Create environmental graphics to be installed in the tunnels connecting the main buildings on the Emory Hospital Campus.
Emory University Hospital had identifed an opportunity to create additional and more enjoyable use of the tunnels connecting the buildings on the Emory Hospital campus. While many staff were using these tunnels for exercise between shifts, and visitors were walking to clear their minds, the halls were very uninspiring and dull. We were tasked to create environmental graphics which would be more inspiring, visually interesting and would communicate messaging to support the Healthy Emory initiative.
Theme concepts were presented to the Healthy Emory team for their consideration and “A Tour of Georgia” was selected as the final direction. While locations which inspired exercise around the USA were considered, and we proposed featuring Georgia locations that everyone could reach in a short drive.
A total of five 100 plus foot sections of mural graphics will be installed into the tunnels featuring unique trivia, facts, healthy eating tips, recipes and simple exercises visitors can execute in their office or in the hall itself. Each section, focusing on a designated region of Georgia, showcases floor-to-ceiling landscape photography and location specific audio to create an immersive experience for the viewer. QR codes are also sprinkled throughout the installation so visitors can download the recipes and exercises to use at their leisure.
The installations have been so positively received that Emory asked us to install smaller quarterly updates, focusing on the seasons of Georgia, creating additional opportunities of engagement and value to those traveling the halls.
